110° SIF congress
From Sept. 9 to 13, Bologna will host the Italian physics community with international guests and speakers for the annual SIF National Congress, the most important scientific-cultural event of the Italian Physical Society, established in 1897. Also among the parter of the prestigious event is ICSC – Italian Research Center on HPC, Big Data and Quantum Computing.
The congress, which will take place in Via della Beverara, at the new Navile District in Bologna, will focus on the latest research on antimatter, the frontiers of physics with particle accelerators, the contribution that quantum science has brought to technological development in the last century and in particular on quantum computers, Supercomputing and physics applied to biological systems and medicine. It is precisely to the applications of high performance computing within the fields of physics that a symposium by ICSC will be devoted. The congress program also includes appointments aimed at citizens, such as the one that will take place on Wednesday, September 11, starting at 5:30 p.m., entitled: “Celebrating Guglielmo Marconi – The importance of remote signal transmission in scientific research.” A meeting that will feature: Silvia Rosa-Brusin, as moderator, Roberto Battiston (University of Trento, former President ASI – Italian Space Agency), SergioBertolucci (University of Bologna, former Director of CERN Research), Gian Francesco Giudice (CERN, Director of the Department of Theoretical Physics), Patrizia Tavella (BIPM – Bureau International des Poids et Mesures, Director of the Tempo Department), Filippo Maria Zerbi (Scientific Director INAF – National Institute of Astrophysics) and Antonio Zoccoli (University of Bologna, President INFN – National Institute of Nuclear Physics and ICSC).
