Registration is now open to participate in the sixth edition of the International School on the Open Science Cloud (SOSC 2024), which will take place in Bologna from Monday, Dec. 2 to Friday, Dec. 6. The school is organized by INFN, the Department of Physics and Astronomy ‘Augusto Righi’ of the University of Bologna, the Department of Physics and Geology of the University of Perugia, and ICSC – Italian Research Center on High Performance Computing, Big Data and Quantum Computing. SOSC’s multidisciplinary training offering is aimed at researchers with bachelor’s degrees or equivalent in physics, statistics, computer science, computer vision, biology, medicine, bioinformatics, and engineering interested in developing their knowledge and skills in data, computational resources, and cloud-based infrastructures to support workflows and applications in science.

Applications will be possible until October 5. Any submissions from undergraduate students will be considered based on availability and must be accompanied by a letter of reference from a university professor.

The school’s program, structured in lectures and practical sessions, is organized into three tracks, focusing on ‘Fundamentals of Software and Data Management,’ ‘Machine Learning Methods,’ and ‘Management of Workflows in a Distributed Environment,’ which will be explored through lectures, comparisons and discussions, and practical sessions. Alongside the traditional training activities, SOSC will also include personal projects to be developed from a dataset provided to the participants.
